Not if you tell it to look for more. On the kernel command line (usually
the LILO prompt), you can do

ether=0,0,eth0 ether=0,0,eth1

to probe for two ethernet cards. You can specify the hardware details
there instead of probing too (recommended for NE2000 cards). This
is detailed in the BootPrompt HOWTO.
