Can you tell me, what kind your ethernet board do you have ?

If you have ne compatibel, you should to do this :
/sbin/insmod 8390
/sbin/insmod ne io=0xUUU,0xZZZ

in modules.
note : UUU and ZZZ is address for your ethernet board
