Sorry to butt in but cat /proc/interrupts displays the interrupts that
are in use at the time of the command.
ie :
VT1 root-S33:/program/NEW# cat /proc/interrupts
0: 2200641 timer
1: 14194 keyboard
2: 0 cascade
3: 119855 + serial
5: 337 soundblaster
9: 1196 NE2000
11: 46 + ncr53c8xx
13: 0 math error
14: 1604039 + ide0
15: 17361 + ide1
as my modem is on /dev/ttyS1 and uses IRQ4 and I am NOT online now it
is not shown. Nor is my printer on lpt1 which is set up for polling
and uses IRQ 7, which is NOT printing right now.
Hope this helps.

The problem with program verifiers is that they tend to cheat at toy
problems in order to get results.
