I had a very similar problem to this, but in my case friction from the
carbon-based fan I had recently installed caused excessive static, and
ionized all the free zeros to
a positive state. This resulted in all the ones being
stuck together in clumps of 256. I had packets of the stuff shooting all
over the floor.
The only way to stop it was to sever the 1/2" thick cable to the antenna
with the axe
I keep under the keyboard for just such an eventuality.
