I have a system running the following:
Slackware 3.4
Kernel updated to 2.0.35
Intel Pentium-133 (not MMX) and 32MB ram
ax25-utils-2.1.42a
net-tools-1.33
We are running both XFBB and TNOS on the same machine.
We are also running the node software too.
We are getting some callsigns that the ax.25 kernel support seems to be
ignoring. When I log onto the the node, and type a 'link' command, it
shows these callsigns as 'Disconnected' (this stays like this forever) and
the 'Rcv-Q' set at -180. This seems quite strange to me. (-180?) What does
'disconnected' mean. (other than the obvious)
We have also had problems running XFBB where some callsigns cause it to
crash rightaway.
I have another system running on a Pentium-150, using Slackware 3.3 (also
same kernel 2.0.35, and other stuff) and I am not seeing any of these
problems at all. (i.e. almost the exact same software)
We have changed the dram read/write timing in the machine's cmos setup to
a slower setting, to see if it is hardware problems. It seems (in the last
two days) that it might be a bit better. I am trying to see if it is a
hardware, or a software problem we have.
Have any of you seen problems (wierd problems) something like this ? Were
they solved by changing motherboards? dram ?
(The machine in question is using a cheap 'no-name' motherboard. I tried
to save our packet radio club some money ...)
Any insight, thoughts, would be most helpful.
Thank-you ...
