I rather think he means "slattach" which is not included in Redhat-5.0
either, but is included in Redhat-4.2.
There are some alternative's,
1) If John has the 6-pack cdrom from Info-Magic then he can find slattach on
DISK2/source/n/tcpip/slattach-1.2.0.tar.gz
DISK2/source/n/tcpip/slattach.tar.gz
2) Get it via ftp from sunsite or one of the mirrors.
3) Use "dip" to attach his interface instead of slattach.
