This is because the ax25-utils source code is not compatible with glibc.
Craig Small, VK2XLZ has compiled it and made a Debian package which I
installed here on my Debian system and it works fine. I have converted
this to .rpm using Debian's alien utility.

You can get it (and also a converted ncurses3.4 RPM which it requires and
RedHat does not have) from ftp://ftp.primenet.com/users/n/nielsen/ (please
let me know if this installs and works correctly.) I have limited space
available here and have already uploaded the ax25-utils rpm to
ftp.ucsd.edu and will move the ncurses3.4 package as well if it
successfully works on a Red Hat system. The ax25-utils package does not
contain the hdlcutil binaries, since they did not compile with
glibc/libc6.
