we have been working for some time now to get a NET/ROM node together with
F6FBB BBS on the same Linux box. As we want this to operate on two radio
frequencies, this seems to be a little bit difficult.
Now we stumbled across FPAC which is said to be working together with FBB.
Unfortunately, the Linux version of FPAC comes with neither documentation
nor config file. All we found out till now is that it searches for a file
/etc/ax25/fpac.conf.
If we set up such a file as described in the docs for the DOS version, the
Linux version doesn't seem to recognize it. fpaccfg still shows that
nothing is configured.
Another problem is that the sources of FPAC will not compile on our
system, we get the error
Structure of 'facilities' not known
in gateway.c .
(If required, I'll go and get the whole error message and
post it here.)
Searching around a little bit we read about a rose patch that appears to
be necessary for FPAC to run. But via NetScape this file gets corrupted
after download (or is it already corrupted on the server?).
Stupid question: Is this patch really necessary? Isn't it already covered
by the ax25-module patch or recent kernels?
Another stupid question (came up after reading around in some WWW-pages):
Does FPAC only support ROSE or is it suitable for "normal" AX.25 and
NET/ROM too? And: Does it really support the kernel AX.25 socket or baycom
modems directly or only particular SCC cards?
Any help on this questions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, 73
