I always wondered why the Baycom guys designed the thing
ass-backwards. They seemed pretty clever otherwise. Even though
English is not their native language, they ought to be able to figure
out what letters like TD, RD, DTR, etc stood for, shouldn't they?
Someone told me the mixup was more or less a "traditional" one,
originating with the earlier "hamcom" interface. But your explanation
makes more sense, and vindicates the Baycom desiginers in my mind.
Everything else they do seems very well done.
