I suggest you read the AX25-HOWTO, which is in the Debian doc-linux-text
package, or you can download it from sunsite.unc.edu.
It will explain the steps you need to take to set up ax.25, including
patching the kernel and getting some utilities, etc. If you are using
Debian 2.0 (hamm), the ax25-utils is available in a Debian package
(recommended if you use hamm, since the source probably won't compile for
you).

44.xxx.xxx.255, where 44.xxx.xxx is your local subnet.

If there is a station you can route through to reach beyond your subnet,
enter that here.

If someone on your subnet is running a nameserver, use that. Otherwise,
if there is a nameserver reachable from your net, use that.

If your computer is only attached to a packet network, you will use ax0 or
??? (depending on your setup). If you are on the internet or a local
ethernet, use that for now.

The HOWTO will answer most of your questions, I'm sure.
