Well actually the problem is not on my system.. it's on the system of
someone who is rather new with linux (not that I'm a veteran hi). I
haven't had the opportunity to go and see the problem myself...
All I know about it is what he told my on the freq..
So..
So we're using the dxlmodem driver (much like the baycom driver). I tried
it on my system (some upgraded older slackw 3.2) which worked OK.
At first I compiled a kernel for him here at home.. also the ax25-stuff..
this gave the invalid callsign problem.. So I guessed also what you
write. Now he compiled the stuff on his system(kernel-dxlmodem
module-ax25-utils-nettools). Same problem.
We checked the binaries (hmm I figured he might have copied some 'older'
binaries in other ?bin dirs. No problem there..
So my latest guess was maybe the libc version.. but as Richard uses it
without probs (RH4.2) I'll have to dig some more :)
It's rather curious... never had such nasty problems with ax25-utils and
linux befor :-)
Oh well it's still fun.. even after already 2 weeks compiling..
recompiling and spending ALOT of time on the radio. Trying explaining
what to try next time hi.
If you might have another clue it's always welcome :)
