Getting AX25 utils to compile on Redhat 5

Hi all
I am having major problems getting ax25 to run on my redhat 5 system.
The base kernel for 5.2 is 2.0.32, but as there wasn't a patch file for
2.0.32, I downloaded 2.0.31 and applied the patches.
The kernel compiles OK and runs, but I cannot compile the AX25 utils suite.
I get a compile time error indictating "errno" is not defined in any of the
utils .c progs.
Obviously it must be me as I assume others have got this working OK.
Any pointers would be gratefully received.
