That seems indeed to be the problem, but since using kernel 2.1.??
(z8530drv-utils-3.0(.1)) using (sccinit.c,line 110/117):
{"rxbuffers", I_WARN},
It seems not possible to use the rx/tx-buffers in /etc/z8530drv.conf
Any ideas ?
i'm rather sure that pinging from a remote host with the preload option
only echo'd about the last 7/8 packets, until changing that constant in
the kernel source, which solved it for me.
But there must be an other way.
It's a bit strange/confusing to me why you don't seem to have the problem

Argh! All right, so how am I supposed to work with Linux when
everything's already been done?! Can't these people leave some
broken MSDOS like parts so there's problems left to solve!?....
