Well, the schematics and manuals for the TAPR TNC-2 are available:

ftp://ftp.tapr.org/tapr/software_lib/tnc/tncsch.{pdf,zip}
ftp://ftp.tapr.org/tapr/software_lib/tnc/tncdocs.zip

This uses the 2206/2211 chipset which is probably more easily obtained
than the 3105 or 7910.

Baycom schematics are available several places, but I don't have a site
handy. Most of the schematics I've seen have an error which is fairly
easy to spot.
