Well that puts it in a different light. It expains why APRS has gotten so
much press.. I guess there are a lot of submisions from wb4apr and others
APRS people(I think the call is correct). I think the only Linux related
amature radio articales that I have seen have been in the Linux Journal.
I think Karl Larson wrote one of them. Correct me If I am wrong but I
don't think there has been a Linux related QST artical. I mean more that
one paragraph.
Actually I got the colume name wrong. It has been changed to Digital
domain.
This month they talked about a group called SEARS and how they were
upgrading/revitalizing their network. The "conductor" said that they had
replaced their old antiquated tnc and X1Jx software with more modern
stuff. That got my interest up but I never heard exactly what they
replaced it with. I think it was just a one page artical. I have to
reread it to make sure I did not miss something.
Does anyone know what new node software/hardware he was talking about??
I think it would be a great idea if QST had more on Linux. Maybe even a
seperate colume. The BBS people I have talked to either have used Linux
out run TNOS system. And Linux has a lot of stuff unrelated to BBS
software for HAMs. The HAM-HOW-TO would be a great outline for articles.
I would read everyone. I think cross posting stuff from the Linux Journal
to QST would be great with enough rewrite to satisfy the copyright
requirements of course.
