Hi all,

I'm new around here, so please be kind. ;-)

okay, basically a few questions.

1. If I had HAM gear could I use it to link into a newtwork,
or would it have to be point-to-point?

2. What kind of gear would be needed, apart from taking the HAM exams?

3. What kind of reliable distance is achievable without external aerials?

4. What s/w is required to achive any of the above.

5. Is there a FAQ for the questiones I just possed? :-)

Thanks for your time, I hope its not too mundane a task for a reply from
some of you people.

I have heard a number of good reports on a few pieces of handheld
reciever/scanners trancievers, namely the Icom IC-10E and the Yaesu FT-50.

Does anyone have any bad opinions of these two devices for handheld or

feild portable usage? Or for that matter a better sugestion.

Thanks in advance.

PS. TCP/IP over Morse Code, although it was a April fool joke. Sounds like
a project to look at. Can someone convince me why its not feasable?
