Hi Thomas,
It doesn't work off-the-shelf. You'll need to set up the interface for IP
('ifconfig') and set the appropriate route ('route'). Try the AX25-HOWTO
(probably on nic.funet.fi and sunsite.unc.edu; it may already be on your
system). I'm running practically the same setup (I downgraded from some
2.1.x kernel) with an SCC-card, local Ethernet LAN, and IP masquerading on
my Internet and packet-radio interfaces. No problems (yet). You're almost
set, since ax25 is already running. You only need an IP address and one or
two routes; that's it... Then you can masquerade on packet as well (in the
Netherlands you actually need to be president to obtain a second
IP-address.... and we don't have any presidents!)
By the way, there may be some subtle problems routing from Ethernet to
packet-radio, notably with the mss-setting. First try to telnet from the
machine directly connected to the packet interface...
