You need to extract the patch file from the archive first, i would suggest
you copy ax25-module-14c.tar.gz to /tmp then untar it with :
tar xvzf ax25-module-14c.tar.gz then:
cp ax25-module-14/ax25-2.0.30-2.1.47-1.diff /usr/src
cd /usr/src
patch -p0 -s <ax25-2.0.30-2.1.47-1.diff
The -s option is "silent" so if you dont see any error messgaes then the
patch went ok. You need to do this against a "clean" kernel source tree.

Of course there are other ways of doing this, this way you see whats going
on.
