I guess the best place to start is to read the instructions. That is the
README included with the kernel source. I had a similar problem with I
recompiled the stock kerne supplied with Redhat 4.1. As I remember there
were two commands you had to enter. Something like ..

make modules
make modules_install

I doubt that that is the exact syntax but with this hint you should be
able to find this in the documentation.

I am not familiar with Net-pf-4/5 so I cannot help there.
