The follow worked for me when I joined the ukip mailing-list:

Email to:
gdgk.zdpsz@mnscu.edu

With the subject of:
subscribe

And the body of the message:
subscribe

The IP address coordinators for your area are:

|096 G6PHF Mike GB7MBB Lancashire North of Blackpool
|097-103 G4TUP David GB7NWI Rest of Lancashire.
