Terry can't issue a new ax25 howto every time a new kernel comes
out. It would make no sense. For example I am still using the
ax25util-2.0.12c that I got last year with kernel 2.0.32 and it works just
fine. I am thinking of upgrading my ax25 tools but don't see it as a real
necessary step. Perhaps netrom will work a little better; now I have to
start netrom and define the parameters I want later.

This is a good peice of information. I better not try my first
effort module patching with the kernel I now am using. Don't want to
downgrade to 2.0.31 to try...:-)

This hasn't been pinned down yet, but it

It looks like all new versions of the ax25 utils will be modules
that work with the proper unstable kernel, and perhaps some of the stable
kernels.

I fail to understand why it's important to upgrade more often than
say every year or so. I have glanced at the messages on this Sig and there
appear to be no major changes since the 2.0.12c version. Am I correct in
this or did I miss something?
