Following an earlier suggestion, I upgraded patch to
patch-2.5 (from prep.ai.mit.edu) and tried patching a
clean 2.0.33 source with ax25-module-14e...

Unfortunately, this did not work, resulting in the
same ax25.h.rej 8*(

YMMV...
