Hello everyone - my linux box (nwo.ml.org) has been happily running linux
2.0.32 for about two months and newest release of slackware, v3.4.... Now
today the box stayed up but it took 5 minutes to respond to anything for
inetd. Once I logged on I did some sudos too take a look what was going on.
They also worked but took 5 minutes to proccess as well (Everything works
fine off the console). Once I got my sleeves rolled up and dived in I
discovered that root was getting these autogenerated mails for me that
said: (I latter figured out they happened whenever I ran a sudo)

and nmbd (a samba deamon) was getting its self stuck in some sort of
continual loop. I commented nmbd out of inetd and rebooted... There is no
longer any inetd messages in the log files, but it still takes 5 minutes to
telnet in. The mail message about gethostbyname still show up when I do a
sudo....
Can SOMEONE please help me! Is this the mysterious inetd bug?
TIA & 73's de
