Hi guys,
I decided to see what this is all about and found some interesting
things going on. First, let me say that the libc development for linux has
been going on at MIT from the beginning. I have upgraded my linux twice
over the past 2 years and the upgrade has always come from:
tsx-11.mit.edu in the /pub/linux/packages/GCC directory.
I was just there and the latest libc package is from last August
1997 and is:
libc-5.4.38.tar.gz
So I have no idea where any version 6 might come from, but it sure
doesn't come from MIT and for sure I'll have nothing on THIS computer in
the way of libc things not from there.
I do have libc-5.4.38.tar.gz installed here and it has created
problems compiling some older source code. But I haven't done a thing with
ax25 for about a year. Still using version 2.0.12c I compiled last
Christmas.
So perhaps Red Hat is doing something odd? They do change the name
of things a lot. Makes them simpler?????
