DHCP and AX25?

Hello all,

recently, we played around a little bit with DHCP services using dhcpd.
Across our Ethernet network ist works just fine, but dhcpd refuses to work
with the network device ax0 (created by the usual Linux AX.25-utils &
modules).
It issues an error message like:

ax0: unknown hardware type 3

and exits, if we load it after installing ax0.
Actually, we load dhcpd right before the AX.25 stuff, just to avoid this
error message.
But, it would be very fine if we could make use of DHCP services over
AX.25 connections, too.

Config: S.u.S.E. Linux 4.41 with kernel 2.0.30 and the appropriate
ax25-utils and ax-25-modules using a BayCom style modem.

Thank you very much for any hint in advance!

Best regards
