Karl,
The HAM-HOWTO lists at least on convers daemon that will work just
fine. If you want AX.25 users to be able to connect to convers directly
I think there are examples of how to do this floating around in the
sample 'node' node configuration files and other places.

It it pretty easy, just a mattter of calling:

telnet localhost 3600

as the program to run.
