Hmm I forget what version I have here... I've not used it for a while since the
node I link to went AWOL.

Anyway I have a file called /etc/uucp/sys and it contains this information:

system chaos
call-login *
call-password *
time any
port type TCP
address chaos.g7pit.ampr.org
chat-timeout 120
chat ogin: \L word: \P
protocol-parameter t timeout 3600
commands rnews rmail rcsmtp uucp

and pertains to connections made to my home system 'chaos' from my system here.

This gives a connect up timeout of 120 seconds and a total transfer time
timeout of 3600 seconds.

Maybe this helps.
