I've run a system with NFS, CERN httpd, sendmail, cnews/nntpd and LBBS on
a 386/33 with 8M RAM and 290M disk. When I added the full ampr.org DNS
which is a real memory hog I soon upgraded to 16M (though it did still
work with 8M RAM and 32M swap) as I found it a bit slow at the console.
The radio users didn't even notice the swapping delays. Compilation
of the kernel is realistically an overnight job even with 16M. It's
currently sitting with 8M swapped and named using 10.5M
The only reliability issue I've got is that inetd exits from time to time
which can be a real problem as you can't even telnet in to fix it. I've
never managed to cure it properly but have a cron job which restarts it
if it's disappeared.
