if you can configure fbb to forward mail to the INN box (as mail) then
you can setup an account there, use procmail to process it, and
mail2news and news2mail to inject mail into the news server.
Having said that (and I do this with all my mail lists at home) there
are no GOOD mail <---> news gateway programs. Most work but have
rough edges which can be tolerated but are irritating. [if someone
can correct me please do so and point me in the right direction] I
just use mail2news and repost by hand replies back to the original
mailing lists. The only thing you have to watch is to avoid loops
which people on mailing lists don't take kindly to.
The probably things to look our for then are:
procmail:
(comes with redhat linux) and probably others, if not you can
download it.
mail2news:
C program written by Rich Salz, who originally wrote INN, but it is
old and imperfect (but works). Also includes news2mail. The code is a bit dated.
mail2news.pl:
perl script which does the same thing. Note here there are several
different perl scripts of the same name, which can be confusing. (it
helps if you understand perl to fix anything you don't like)
I'm currently trying to write a better perl script for mail2news and
news2mail, and would suggest you read son-of-rfc1036.txt (can't
remember where it is, but will send if you're interested) as this
discusses the topic quite well.
Hope this info is of some help.
