Hello everyone,

I've been lurking and I have also read the archives and cannot make a good
decision and hope you can offer suggestions. We are interested in using
Linux to support HDLC and AX.25 services at bit rates upto 78125 (78.125
kb/sec). Although AX.25 support is the end goal, obtaining HDLC-like
access to the same hardware would be useful with a common software interface).

It appears some of the software interfaces for some of the popular boards
will not support DMA (DMA is probably necessary at 78.125 kb/sec). Perhaps
using a generic SCC-based board (as written about in the AX.25 HOW-TO) is
the best approach, but I do not know enough to know about the 'KISS-like'
interface. We would like to just have the synchronous serial stream coming
off a SCC card to go straight to a modem without a KISS TNC. Likewise, the
synchronous serial stream from the modem should be able to go straight to a
SCC. (I'm talking Z8530 type devices when I mention SCC).

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks for your attention.
