OK... I have been RE-reading the telnet, route, and a whole bunch of other
ax.25-utils related man pages today...

... but this time specifically looking for certain things.

OK, I see the irtt parameter for the route command. I tried setting
it to 5 seconds.. then 10 seconds. Best I can tell --- NO DIFFERENCE.

Off the top of my head I would be inclined to say that is not the problem.

So the question returns... HOW DOES ONE KNOW WHAT VALUE TO USE?

So do I just keep guessing until it is right? We may be "amateurs" but
there has got to be a better way.

I also tried setting the route 'window' parameter... but route would not
accept it.
