AX.25 has always allowed UI frames to be larger than 256 octets, there is
nothing Linux specific about that. The only maximum packet length ever
specified for AX.25 that I'm aware of are for connected mode frames,
ie I frames.
hence, there is nothing non-standard about setting your mtu to
larger than 256 octets for a datagram mode IP/AX.25 interface.
