If you kill the pty!! and leave tnos running, then try to do slattach again
for the same pty you will get this I/O error because there will be a stayle
lock file in /var/locks, you need to kill both the pty and tnos then check
/var/locks and make sure that the LCK...pty!! has gone, if not remove it.

If you mean you are rebooting linux and then getting this message make sure
your slip module (if you have modules) is loaded before your script
executes.
If slip is in the kernel itself try putting a "sleep 1" before and after the
slattach line in your script.

Terry, slackware version of slattach does not accept the -p and -s options
anymore, my version of slattach comes from last December's issue of
slackware.
3964 Aug 20 1996 /usr/sbin/slattach, note its now /usr/sbin/slattach
Weather or not there are compile options in slattach i dont know, i dont
have the source. It wont even show a version number.
slattach [-h] [-c] [-6] ttyname [baudrate]

Yes the man page is misleading, it has no explanation about -h c or 6 options,
but however if you read part 20.1 from Terry's wonderfull HOWTO it explanes
how "pipes" work.
