Smtp??? & News???

Hi Terry & others....

Thanks to terry and several hundred emails I have linux 2.0.30 and ax25 all
working. I can ping, telnet, ftp rawax25 connect etc from my comp. and
tnc into our local tcpip freq. However, any mail that I send (via PINE)
fails to be sent out the radio port.

example....

I can ping/telnet & ftp to vk3blw-1.ampr.org, 44.136.73.36 in the hosts
file, the domain lookup is all done and works as it should.

If I send, via pine, mail to pltun@i.cz, all goes as one
would expect to with pine while in 'compose' mode and it accepts the mail
upon the ctrl-x command. But if I let the system go over night I end up
with a failed mail message in my mailbox in the morning?

The sendmail daemon appears to be set to a 15 minute cycle, put it this
way, that is how the linux install from slackware v3.2 set it up and I have
not touched it since installation.

What needs to be done to get the smtp server to send the queued mail to the
host receipent?

Next question.

Our local NNTP server, vk3blw-3.ampr.org (44.136.73.38) is a KA9Q NOS
(v2.0j I think) and he accepts an argument of newsgroups wanted when
initating a nntp session, then the available headers are sent and articles
retrieved, that is via another KA9Q, JNOS or TNOS system with nntp
client/server compiled in.

Now my tests the other night with TRN under linux yielded a promising
result, my system reconised the vk3blw-3.ampr.org nntpserver and attempted
a nntp session with it. All worked up to the point where my system issued
the 'XMODE READER' and the response from the nntpserver was '501 syntax
error' and a quitting of the session. This is understandable, but is there
a linux prg around that may be used with a KA9Q nntp server??

Regards and thanks for your time.
