Following situation:
1.
We are using here in Vienna on the node OE1XTR TNOS-2.21 / Linux 2.0.29
with the built in nntp-server on port 434. It's my equipment and I'm
running it on my own costs.
2.
I want to upgrade additionaly one real Linux-Node avaliable on port 144.
This should be connected via slip from kernel to tnos.
Therefor on my machine at home I run under the call OE1MSB allready
Linux 2.0.30 with modules-13 and ax25-utils-2.1.22b. Because I want to
test everything before I install it on the node. At the moment I'm
connected to OE1XTR by air.
3.
Generally everthing runs quite well. My main problem is which nntp
server I can use on the pure Linux configuration ?
The normal nntpd as I understood is usefull only in the local network
!?!
Therefor I tried to configure INN. And here the real problems are
starting. I think I don't understand the philosophy behind INN and this
is the reason why I'm running like in a circle.
At the moment I misconfigured it so badly that INN even is not starting.
At the beginning I could connect to OE1XTR and load the list of active
news-groups. But never I could transfer news from OE1XTR/TNOS to the
local machine OE1MSB/INN.
My questions are:
What NEWS-Server I should run for the AMPR-World ?
Is there anybody using INN ?
Can you explain me the philosophie behind INN and all the additional
programs in this distribution ?
Is there a possibility to call you on phone to discusse this ?
Because I'm travelling very extensive out of Austria here is my GSM No:
I will call you back on my costs immediatly.
In the case I'm not reachable a voice-mailbox is on.
