I have pleasure in announcing the availablity of ax25-module-13. This
incorporates a number of changes over ax25-module-12, the main one being
that it is against Linux 2.0.30.
There will be a new version of the ax25-utils (named ax25-utils-2.1.37) to
match this patch, however it is not available yet. But do not worry.
For those conversant with C programming, it shouldn't be too difficult to
get ax25-utils-2.1.22b to compile with ax25-module-13, apart from the
programs mentioned below which will have to be removed from the
Makefiles. Please note that ax25-utils-2.1.37 will include many enhanced
and bug fixed utilities over those found in ax25-utils-2.1.22b and will be
worth upgrading to when available.
If you already use Linux 2.0.29 with ax25-module-12 and have
ax25-utils-2.1.22b working then you are laughing. Simply create a clean
Linux 2.0.30 and patch it with ax25-module-13, your existing ax25-utils
programs will still work apart from:
1. nrctl
2. rsctl
3. soundmodem utilities
Therefore if you use the soundmodem then you will have to stay with
ax25-module-12 for the moment.
If you are new to the ax25-modules patches and wish to get up to speed,
then build Linux 2.0.29 with ax25-module-12 and ax25-utils-2.1.22b and
then upgrade to Linux 2.0.30 with ax25-module-13.
For this reason ax25-module-12 and ax25-utils-2.1.22b will remain
available from my FTP site.
A seperare announcement about ax25-utils-2.1.37 will be made to
linux-hams in due course.
