Wrong, he said ax25-moudule-12 WITH ax25-utils-2.1.22b, thats correct.
The modules-xx.tar.gz files bring 2.0.xx kernels into line with 2.1.xx,
therefor allowing the use of ONE ax25-utils distribrution.

My best guess would be the error is because he has forgot to include slip
into his kernel or he is not modprobe'ing the slip module.

kissattach [-i inetaddr] [-l] [-m mtu] [-v] ttyinterface port
is what he needs to do.
