This version fixes the repeatable crash (lockup) for me thanks for the
quick solution :))

What i did:
cd /usr/src/z8530drv-2.4/, which contains the newly 2.4c package
make install_source, with the 2.0.30 source in /usr/src/linux
cd /usr/src/linux
make modules
make modules_install
reboot with kernel 2.0.30 and no lockups detected. (al least not during
writing this message with an uptime of 20 minutes)

I didn't reinstall the utils (yet) and it seems to work great again.
Is there anything left you want to report me?

I do have a small note;
is it possible to change the default 'make install' behaviour which
overwrites the /etc/z8530drv.conf file?

Thanks again,

Argh! All right, so how am I supposed to work with Linux when
everything's already been done?! Can't these people leave some
broken MSDOS like parts so there's problems left to solve!?....
