Hello to you all in this news group
Praise
Over the past four months I have been a silent watcher
to the items being sent to this news group in preparation
for the day when I upgrade my live host gb7cip.ampr.org
from linux kernel 1.1.73 wampes etc. 6 of X1J4 NetRom/Tcpip
using the nrs interface. (which has been very stable for
the past three years.
My thanks to all those that have been writing about their
experiences and the replies..
Software upgrade
During this period I did a test build and finally made the
commitment just before Easter week of March 24 to totally
rebuild gb7cip. based on the ax25 how to and kernel 2.0.27
that worked 'ok' though the linux node code was confusing
my ax25 and tcpip users.. (with regards callsigns. Now fixed
in the latest release installed here)
This past week (31 March) having downloaded the current ax25 how-to
I am now running
kernel 2.0.29
ax25-module-12
net-tools.1.32.alpha
ax25-utils-2.1.22b
not using modules. everything compiled into the kernal
(not learnt ready about modules yet. been a large learning
curve already over the past few weeks)
xfbbd ver 40b (version 45b fails to run though I have not yet
retested on this latest kernel set-up)
LBBS 1.08b (Still struggling to get this to work
to interface to my smtp/sendmail setup and XFBBD)
I can connect to LBBS with the
call 'interface' callsign
I would be nice if XFBBD had code to enable it
to interface with sendmail5.67b+Ida which is
the version that is run here.

the four PC com ports interfaces are configure as KISS,
interfaces u439, u432, v70 TNC's are connected to
their own com ports
Interface u433 is configure to currently kiss and
one of the x1j4 is only configure for mode 2 kiss
mode.
NRS
What I want to do is to be able to use NRS over the u433 interface
and get the three tnc 'talking' to each other again
Is there any NRS interface code developed. I have seen reference
in the emails I have on my system from the news group, though not
the exact details of how to get the code and implement..
Comments please.
NETROM PROBLEM
Currently struggling with configuring the latest netrom code as it's
changed from the previous release
What I want to do is set the ports default quality to 10
and be able to have LOCKED routes of zero
also to be able to Lock routes in at set value eg. 240 to
my adjacent x1j4 routes
(note I have been running NETROM nodes since 1988/1989)
What I am currently doing
netromd &
nparms - route -u439 gb7cr-10 + 240
from the node the R command show the route correctly
e.g.
u439 GB7CR-10 240 40 ! (i.e LOCKED)
when the x1j4 node transmits a node broadcast
the netromd is resetting the LOCKED route quality
back to 10
e.g
u439 GB7CR-10 10 40 !
Is this a known error, or have I not found out
yet how to configure the node
I have gone through all the news items amd ax25 how
for the past four months. Have not found this one.
[note my nrroutes file user to have
nrparms -parms -qual 10 -obs 6 -ttl 32 -tries 2 -act 2
-busy 180 -win 4 -paclen 236
and the entry in nrbroadcast file
u439 5 10 10 1
which worked correctly in the previous release]
Comments please
The users that have been using the current Linux_node
like the features exspecially the callbook server.
I noticed that the nrattach is needs the IP addess specified
took me two chasing that one and found an item posted
25 December that documented the exact symptons and cure.
ttylinkd.03 wants the rose.c file which is not compiled in
the system here so using ttylinkd.02
