So it works once, but not twice irrespective of which port you use ?

Try this:

reboot
connect as normal
kill ax25d without interrupting connection
restart ax25d and try a second connect.

Because the version of netstat in net-utils needs to be updated to
support the new ax.25/netrom/rose support.

The problems seems to have something to do with the way that ax25d
is handling the program that is being executed after the connect.
