Well, IMHO the optimum solution would be:

1.) Incorporate the patches into 2.0.28+ (they do only affect AX.25, don't
they?)

2.) Merge the ax25-utils, as the differences between 2.0 and 2.1 would be
small (I think Jonathan proposed that).

If 1.) doesn't work (although I hope it does), 2.) would still be nice.
One could include the required kernel patch in ax25-utils-xxx.tar.gz.

If somebody doesn't want to upgrade the kernel, he still can use the
present ax25-utils-2.0.12c, but they would be no longer supported.
