I think calling APRS, GIS is stretching it a lot.
The APRS program plots the position of objects on an electronic map. The
position information is received(using UI frames) from the objects off
the air directly or from digi repeaters using an alias of WIDE or RELAY
usually. The objects that transmit the information can be either fixed
sites like BBS's or NODES or mobile objects that have both a GPS
receiver, TNC and xmitter. The program has functions that allow you to
zoom in and out and manage the maps. You can also do radio DF functions.
