Joe.
Yes there are other ways, "node" will accept netrom and AX25 connects,
and in node you can use "Alias" cmd to start programs like "ttylink" (which
you can also run as a daemon), also there is the "ExtCmd" which runs other
programs and transmits them in AX25.
There is "axspawn" for creating shells, of course these programs are fairly
new, they come with ax25-utils-2.0a (i think it was) and higher to work with
2.0.xx kernels, The latest ax25-utils for the 2.0.xx series is 2.0.12b(!),
and if you are daering and like to live dangerously there is kernel 2.1.xx
and ax25-utils-2.1.9b, please note, it is not recomended to use 2.1.xx
kernels they are development stuff, and are likely to break just about
everyting you could think of.
Not forgetting ax25d which is the super server and handels so much more.
Maybe it would be a good idea to look at:
http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/AX25-HOWTO.html
or
http://www.cs.nott.ac.uk/~jsn/ (Jonathan g4klx)
I just read in another message that Terry has just installed a new version
of his "very informative" AX25-HOWTO.
