Yes, it's a matter of preference, but why in blazes must everyone
and his neighbour , run a 'full time bbs'?
In our S5 network, the egsisting 5 'regional' bbs-es make enough of
trafic, just imagine the hub-bub of say 5000 bbs-es (the number of
HAM radio ops in cntry) traficking 'the goods' ....
At that we run backbone partialy 1,288 Mbps and the older part on
38k4 bps....
There's a smaller group here that run Linux AX25 , and we all use
pms that comes with AX25 utils, cause there just no other way for
'pure ax25 call' to reach us...thats the only reason we run pms at
all.
But , as you say , it's a matter of preference, or was it common
sense...who knows..
