First of all, I'd need more information about the setup, although it
seems that Tony forgot to rename z8530drv.rc to z8530drv.conf. BTW,
everyone should UPgrade to version 2.4a, available from the
usual sites:

I removed the KISS TNC emulation mode from version 3.0 on since I
see no reason why one should not use the Fine Kernel AX.25 ;-).
It just complicated the driver and increased its size. But
I have not forgotten the *NOS and WAMPES users. There is a small
program called "kissbridge" included in z8530drv-utils-3.0 and
there is "net2kiss" by Thomas Sailer in the AX.25 utilities. Both
programs link an AX.25 network device to a pseudo TTY port. Note
that this version of z8530drv is included in the 2.1.x kernel
tree and not available for 2.0.x.

He will need to compile (and perhaps "insmod") the kernel AX.25 to
use an AX.25 network device driver with TNOS, but there is no need
to use kernel AX.25 (i.e. to ifconfig the port).
