Subject: UKCWG: Those PC^0^ frames ...
Folks,
After some severe detective work that has been carried out, I am pleased to
announce that the source of those "PC^0^" frames has been discovered.
It's any DXNet version 3 cluster, and it's a "fudge" to keep connections
alive when the cluster code is running on top of a FlexNet protocl stack (it
doesn't need them when running on top of BPQ, but sends them anyway).
Those frames a *really* intended to be sent to user links ONLY, and only
when there is sufficient inactivity to need to send a "heartbeat" to a
logged-on user.
I have raised the matter directly with Olivier (F5MZN, the DXNet author) and
doubtless he will take appropriate action in a short timeframe. In the
meantime, I have (I hope!) prevented GB7DXA from sending those by:-
SET/DIDDLE 0
However, with these days of random European connectivity, you are likely to
see those things arriving from any number of directions. So please, in the
meantime, don't automatically blame me or GB7DXH (my current point of
connection) for them. If you can locate a source of 'em, you now know what
to tell the errant DXNet SysOp he needs to do :-)
Cheers - Iain
