Hallo Aurelio, there are 3 protocole modes in packetcluster.
Normal is with everything open PC10-PC51

Limited protocole is simply turning off selected pc numbers via a symbol
mask like this, also hops works the same way. But with hops we can only
reduce the count not increase it. As with clx if someone deceides to limit
the protocole all we can do is accept it or go around that node!

Hops example:
set/hops 3 5x1t-8 010000110000001000000000000000000000000000

This would reduce hops to 5x1t-8 on PC11,16,17 and 24 to 3 the rest would
remain 99. I have also stacked these hops commands to set all hops to 9 and
maybe PC11 to 3 for example.
set/hops 9 5x1t-8 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
set/hops 3 5x1t-8 010000000000000000000000000000000000000000

This does not make the situation perfect, however if a node
somewhere down the line drops a character in the PCXX^ area it will make
the great circle for hours until someone kills it.

Now for the protocole mask:

set/symbol/xmt @ 111111001111110111111111111111111111111111
set/symbol/rcv @ 111111001111110111111111111111111111111111
PC10 ^ PC51 ^

then if I wish to apply this mask to vk3bbs I place an entry in node.dat
like this:

set/node @vk3bbs-4 vk3bbs-4 vk3bbs-11
The first vk3bbs-4 with the symbol '@' is telling the software to turn on
the protocole symbol @ it must be followed by the cluster call in this case
vk3bbs-4 vk3bbs-11 is an alias, necessary in some cases when digipeating.
Note that the same symbol can be used for multiple nodes, so that the same
limitations can be placed on multiple connections. Also the mask may be
changed on the fly or can be different for incoming and outgoing messages.

Now the third connection protocole is -ext or external node.
This was devised for ab5a and myself when we were connecting on hf, it has
some bugs. This protocole will send only the connected stations PC19 no
other nodes will be identified behind the connected node. This is a double
edge sword, it keeps the pc 18 and 19 chatter to virtually nil, but you
also have no idea how many nodes are connected behind your partner. Also
the max user count is limited to 127, and it lets the pc24 messages
through, so i usually use the other limited mask to kill the pc24 before
they hit my node.

I sent this privately, let me know if you think the list would find the
information worthwhile.
