4.01b update problems on my Slackware 3.4 system

Hello all,
It seems that for some reason the upd401b just does not like my system
running slackware 3.4 it came up ok initially but would not let me log
in using net_usr, term_usr, or via ax25.
After it would not allow me to connect I was going to restart clx and
try again. I ran clx -s, then ran clx -x, and since my machine is
remotely
located at another site I have to telnet to it to work on it, well the
new clx -x dumped my telnet connection because I had logged in as clx_us
for the session. No big deal but was a surprize, anyone else who has to
telnet to their machine might take note of this, you just have to log in
as another user then su to clx_us. Well after logging back in I ran
clx -u to start it back up and try again. This time I got several errors
More or less saying postmater not running, trying to start it, could not
start it, clx_stat exists, is CLX active. So my system does not like the
new startup scripts. Well I more or less got frustrated at the time and
gave up trying to troubleshoot it remotely and reinstalled back up to
version 4.00b again. I have normally been installing and trying out all
of the upgrades here at the house on my backup system before doing them
on the remote system but since I have not really had any problems with
any of the last ones I thought I would bypass that step this time :-)
Just wondering if anyone else running Slackware 3.4 had any problems
on this last update before I try it again here at the house this time.
