ssid's and node connect

Configuration:
RedHat 5.1 running clx4.00b (node call: k4uga)
Partner node is AK1A PCluster (node call: k4uj )
Connection is telnet with clx calling the PCluster
as active connection

Problem:
We do make the connection. At first, we connected OK but soon
noticed there were NO spots, then partner saw I was in as node
with -1 SSID, assigned by his node. No spots to clx node. I forced
a SSID in clx_par to -9. He set nodes list to welcome the -9. This
worked to get the spots through, but at this point we cannot exchange
TALKS or MSGS. DX/WWV spots work fine both ways. Further, you
cannot create a MSG on the clx node for anyone without entering
something like "send kc4bdt@k4uga-9 Test Message" This message
is from a user on k4uga to another user on k4uga.

Anyone else recognize what we've done wrong? Any help or pointers
would be appreciated.

Tnx es 73,
Bill
