Others, who are needing the SET/ALIVE feature have reported that the
keep-alive packet is only sent when something follows the SET/ALIVE
command.
So they should try this: "SET/ALIVE X". This should send them an "X" every
10 minutes. This is not a nice solution but it could work and then you knew
if this was really the problem or not.
That idle timer in the kernel - I thought it was gone now. That info
in the manual is probably outdated. It also depended on user INPUT not
OUTPUT, so when the user would not send something for X minutes, he would
be disconnected, no matter if he received anything or not.
